How To Look Great On A First Date (Women’s Edition)

Going on a first date is as exciting as it is nerve-wracking. From the moment your date is confirmed, there will be a million thoughts running in your head. From the clothes you’ll wear to the things you’ll say, there’s so much to figure out, and it can all be overwhelming, to say the least.

But it doesn’t have to be so hard, especially not with us here to help you out.

Here are a few suggestions that we hope will help.

Wear Something Comfortable But Don’t Go Too Casual

Deciding what to wear is one of the most frustrating parts of a first date—it’s an anxiety-inducing process for what is already a nerve-wracking experience for many.

While some would consider shopping for a new outfit in this situation, we don’t recommend it. Instead, pick something from your existing wardrobe—something you’re comfortable in that always makes you feel good. Keep it semi-formal with a pretty top and slide sandals. Or you could also wear a slip skirt with a bustier top for a subtly fancy look.

Just make sure you’re not wearing anything too showy or awkward.

Keep the Jewelry and Makeup Subtle

Of course, we all want to look our best on a first date, but staying true to yourself and your usual choices is also important. This means applying makeup that you’d be comfortable with. So, if you’re used to wearing bold eyeliner every day, feel free to do the same on your first date, but stay away from any makeup choices that are too new. A first date is not the time for you to hop on any latest makeup trends or try new techniques.

Also, try not to go overboard if you choose to wear jewelry. Ideally, just stick with your usual accessories and go with a statement bracelet or earrings. But steer clear of anything too distracting. You don’t want flashy jewelry overshadowing your amazing personality.

Make Sure Your Hair’s on Fleek

The best way to look well put together without looking like you’ve tried too hard is to ensure your hair’s on point.

Head to a salon before your big date and get your hair trimmed and blow-dried. Of course, there’s no need to go with extravagant treatments, but see if you need a color retouch or bang trim.
