Here’s How You Can Keep Your Hair Healthy

Life isn’t perfect, but your hair can be. Bad hair days can be a bummer because they can make you feel less confident. And when your hair is in good form, you may feel like you’re ready to conquer the world.

One of the biggest hair challenges we face is hair breakage, dry scalp, frizzy hair, hair dryness, and dullness. However, with some TLC, we can address these issues and breathe some life back into our hair.

Here are some tried and tested healthy haircare tips from our expert hairstylists at Head Rush Salon:

Detangle Your Hair Before Taking a Shower

Hair breakage is avoidable if you’re gentle with your hair. One of the best ways to avoid unnecessary breakage is to detangle and gently brush your hair before you shower. Because when your hair is wet, the hair shaft is vulnerable and susceptible to breakage. So, always brush the knots before washing and shampooing your hair.

Brushing your hair can also transfer the oils from your scalp to your ends, making them smoother and softer.

Shampoo And Condition Your Hair

Use the correct amount of shampoo and conditioner. You usually need only nickel-size shampoo for short hair and slightly more for longer hair. Regardless, try to focus on gathering and working in the shampoo into the roots of your hair rather than the ends. Your ends will clean up and take care of themselves when you rinse out the shampoo.

After you’ve rinsed out the shampoo completely, let the excess water drip off. This will help the conditioner to stay on longer when you apply it. Next, take some conditioner and apply it from the middle of your hair to the ends. Don’t apply conditioner to your roots because it’ll weigh down your hair when it dries and causes excess oil to gather on your scalp. Leave the conditioner on for 3-8 minutes or depending upon the duration mentioned on your container. This will make your hair feel less frizzy and dry.

Post-Shower Maintenance

After you’ve rinsed out your conditioner, gently dry and pat down your hair with a microfiber cloth or a cotton T-shirt. After removing the excess water, seal your hair with a hydrating and moisturizing serum. Start applying the serum from the middle of your hair to the ends. After that, you can leave your hair to air dry.

However, if you wish to style your hair, always use a heat-protectant serum or spray. Also, always begin drying or styling your hair at the lowest heat setting. And the next time you wash your hair, try to sneak in a hair mask or hair oil by massaging it into your scalp to stimulate growth, reduce dullness and dryness, and maintain hair health.

Your hair also requires regular trims and treatments to reduce split ends and dryness. If you’re looking for expert hair stylist Glen Cove, head to the Head Rush Salon at Glen Cove.
